Methods of Cleaning Crystals
There are 5 different ways for cleansing your crystals/gemstones. Pick the one that fits you.
Your new gemstones have been on a long journey before reaching its final destination, YOU. There is a lot of collected energy that you might not want to work with. If you want a fresh start with your Rose Quartz and Amethyst, the first step you should take is to cleanse them.
It’s also advisable to continue to cleanse your gems as they will easily absorb energy from the environment. But even more important than cleaning your Rose Quartz and Amethyst stones, is cleaning your home. We recommend cleansing your crystals every third month to six months.
There are many different methods of cleansing gems, some work better than others, but there is no wrong way to cleanse a stone.
At the end of the day, you must choose a method that works best for YOU, something that you can do on a regular basis without it being cumbersome.
1. Sunlight or Moonlight
Let your gems bathe outside in the light of the sun or the moon for at least 4 hours.
Moonlight and Sunlight at any time will cleanse and charge your gems. It’ll rid the gems of excess residual energy and toxicity, as well as charge them. Sunbathing and “Moon bathing” will make the gems renewed, revitalized and ready for use.
Be mindful that the sun will fade your gemstones coloring when exposed for an extended period of time.
Moonlight is a natural deep cleanser and is most powerful during the new moon and full moon of every month.
If you don’t want to leave your gems outdoors, you can place them inside by a window to let them bathe in the light of the moon or sun.
2. Smoke it Out
Burn Sage, Frankincense or Palo Santo, also known as Holy Wood. It’s a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is known for its energy cleansing and healing properties.
It not only cleanses your gems, but will bring a positive, uplifting energy into your environment.
Use your hands to waft the smoke over and around your gems. Immerse your stones in the sacred smoke until it seems to come back to life.
Cleansing your home
Burning Frankincense, Sage or Holy Wood is a great method to cleanse your home of negative and/or stale vibrations. We actually recommend cleansing your home environment more frequently than your crystals. As the crystals vibrate on such a high level and are “pure” the energy they absorb will not be as harmful as the negative energy that can be present in your home. This is due to the strong vibration/energy that the crystals emit on their own.
3. Return to Nature
Back to Earth
Grounding your gemstones in or on the earth are another great method. This powerful cleansing method not only purifies the stones, it also allows your gems to connect to natural crystal grids in the earth and grounds those energies. Place your gemstones on the soil or even bury it within the earth for 4 to 24 hours, or longer.
If you have a clean stream, creek or any natural body of water nearby, submerge your gemstones in the running water for a few moments, making sure to do so with the intention to purify in mind.
Make sure you are mindful when placing crystals in water, softer stones that are salt-based will dissolve when they get wet. This doesn’t apply for Amethyst and Rose Quartz which are safe to put in water.
4. Pyramid Charging
A small copper or gold-plated pyramid, called energizer pyramid, cleanses and balances the energies of the gemstones when placed inside the pyramid.
This method also increases the energy and effectiveness of the healing crystals.
The Pyramid does all the work for you, so you can cleanse things while you sleep! Leave them inside the Pyramid for at least an hour or overnight to also boost their energy.
5. Crystallized Cleansing
Selenite or Clear Quartz has the unique ability to cleanse, recharge and purify the energy of other gemstones without diminishing their own energy.
Lay your gemstones on a piece of Clear Quartz or a Selenite Charging Plate for 6+ hours.
